Leach, Gutierrez Garner Men's Lacrosse Weekly Awards

St. John's midfielder Terence Leach earned BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Villanova's Dan Gutierrez was tabbed as the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week.

Leach recorded a pair of four-goal games in a 1-1 week for the Red Storm. The four goals are a career high. Leach had four points and three ground balls in a loss to Hofstra and four points and a ground ball in a win against Sacred Heart. He had four man-up goals for the week, improving his season total to eight. He leads the team with 16 goals.

Gutierrez posted 11 saves in an 11-10 upset at Syracuse on March 25. Gutierrez posted six saves each half, including several in the last five minutes, to help solidify the VU win. He also aided a VU defense that stopped all five of SU's EMO opportunities for the evening.

BIG EAST Honor Roll

Sean Rogers, Notre Dame, Sr., A
Rogers scored a career-high four goals in a 12-9 win against Rutgers in Notre Dame's BIG EAST opener. All four goals came in the second half. He also scored a goal in the Irish's 8-7 win at Ohio State.

Dillon Ayers, St. John's, Jr., LSM
Ayers' nine ground balls against Sacred Heart is tied for the top national performance this year by a non-faceoff specialist.

Matt Harris, Syracuse. So., D
Harris led SU with nine ground balls in a 1-1 week. He also scored his first goal of the year. He tied his career high with six ground balls in a win against Providence.

Tommy Palasek, Syracuse, Sr., A
Palasek led the Orange with seven points last week in a 1-1 week. He had a team-high four goals. Palasek recorded two goals and an assist in a 10-6 win against Providence and picked up a career-best four ground balls. Against Villanova, he had a season-high four points.

Jack Rice, Villanova, Jr., A
Rice had two goals and two assists to lead Villanova in a win at Syracuse.
