Kimchak and Lusby Garner Weekly Men's Lacrosse Awards

Rutgers swept the BIG EAST Player of the Week awards as redshirt-sophomore Scott Klimchak was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week and sophomore Steven Lusby earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week.

Klimchak scored four goals, turning in the fifth hat trick of his career, and netted the game-winning goal at the 2:27 mark in overtime to lead the Scarlet Knights to an 8-7 conference win against Providence. His offensive effort led RU to its first BIG EAST win of the season.

Lusby made 13 saves and picked up two ground balls to record the win against Providence, an 8-7 overtime victory for Rutgers. He grabbed two ground balls and made 13 saves. After a Providence man-up opportunity began with 48 seconds remaining in the fourth period with the game tied, Lusby came up with a big save to force overtime.

Jim Marlatt, Notre Dame, So., M
Marlatt was named MVP of the game after he scored a game- and career-high three goals in a 13-6 win over St. John's in the Konica Minolta Big City Classic. All three goals came in a span of 1:19 in the fourth quarter to increase Notre Dame's lead to five (10-5).

Bobby Smith, Notre Dame, Sr., LSM/D
Smith helped the Irish defense limit St. John's to six goals, and just two in the second half, in a 13-6 win at the Konica Minolta Big City Classic. The Red Storm entered the game averaging 10 goals per game. Smith matched a career high with four ground balls and caused one turnover.

Tommy Palasek, Syracuse, Sr., A
Palasek had a season-high five points in a 12-10 loss to No. 8 Duke at the Konica Minolta Big City Classic. Two of his four goals, which tied a career-high, came in a 3-0 Orange run that tied the game late in the third quarter.

Will Casertano, Villanova, Jr., A
In a 13-8 loss at No. 18 Penn State, Casertano led the Villanova offense with three goals and an assist.

Thomas Croonquist, Villanova, So., FO
Croonquist won 11-of-15 (73 percent) from the X this week in a 13-8 loss at No. 18 Penn State. For the season, he has won 85-of-140 attempts, good for a .607 win percentage, which ranks 11th in the nation.
