Notre Dame Men's Lacrosse Advances to NCAA Championship Second Round

The Notre Dame men's lacrosse team defeated Penn 13-6 in the first round of the NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship on Saturday, May 14 in Notre Dame, Ind. The Fighting Irish will advance to play the winner of Duke vs. Delaware on Sunday, May 22 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. Senior Colin Igoe had a hat trick, while senior Zach Brenneman, freshman Westy Hopkins, junior Nicholas Beattie and sophomore Pat Cotter each added a pair of goals. After the first two quarters, Notre Dame held a 20-10 advantage. The Fighting Irish added seven in the third and 13 goals to seal the win in the fourth, holding Penn to seven goals or less in each period. Sophomore goalkeeper John Kemp earned the win, making nine saves.
