There will be a strong BIG EAST presence at the New York Red Bull's September 11th game against the Colorado Rapids (4:00 PM, Red Bull Arena, Harrison, N.J.). The Conference will officially kick off a two month push to promote the 2010 BIG EAST Men's Soccer Championship presented by Travelodge, which will be held at Red Bull Arena on November 12th and 14th.
A pre-game ceremony will take place with officials from the New York Red Bulls BIG EAST Conference, and Travelodge, as well as three of the league's head coaches: Dan Donigan of Rutgers, Manny Schellscheidt of Seton Hall and Dr. Dave Masur of St. John's.
There are currently three former BIG EAST players on the Rapids: Ian Joyce of Seton Hall, Omar Cummings of Cincinnati, and Anthony Wallace of USF. The Red Bulls, buoyed by the addition of French superstar Thierry Henry, sit in second place in Major League Soccer's Eastern Division.
This November will be the first time the BIG EAST Conference will host its men's soccer championship at Red Bull Arena, one of the premier soccer venues in North America. Located in Harrison, New Jersey, Red Bull Arena is part of a much larger, two-phase redevelopment initiative planned by the Harrison Redevelopment Agency known as the Riverbend District.
The BIG EAST semifinal games will be played on Friday, Nov. 12 with the Championship game taking place on Sunday, Nov. 14. Fans can purchase two-day pass tickets for as little as $16 apiece while single day tickets start at $10. Groups of 10 or more also qualify for discounted tickets to one or both days. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 1.877.RBSOCCER or log onto www.RedBullArena.us.
The semifinals will start at 5 p.m. ET and approximately 7:30 p.m. ET, while the title game is slated for 12:00 p.m ET. The final three matches of the championship will be televised live on the CBS College Sports Network (CBS C). The semifinals also will be carried exclusively on CBS C, while the title game will be shown on numerous regional sports networks, including SportsNet NY (SNY).
