Five BIG EAST teams were invited to the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship. Georgetown and Marquette were among the top 16 seeds that earned first-round byes. Georgetown was awarded the No. 6 seed and Marquette, the BIG EAST Championship winner, was No. 9. Providence, the BIG EAST Championship runner-up, plays a first-round match at Pennsylvania on Thursday, Nov. 22. St. John's, which did not make the six-team BIG EAST postseason tourney, still was invited with a 10-6-2 record and a regular season that ended with four straight shutouts. The Red Storm play at Delaware, also on Thursday. Creighton, the No. 5 seed in the BIG EAST postseason, was awarded a home game in the first round and will host Seattle on Thursday.

Last year, Georgetown reached the national championship game before losing 1-0 to Indiana. Creighton, which was not in the BIG EAST last year, reached the College Cup national semifinals.

First Round Thursday, Nov. 22 Providence at Pennsylvania, 7 p.m. St. John's at Delaware, 7 p.m. Seattle at Creighton, 8 p.m.

Second Round Sunday, Nov. 24 No. 6 Georgetown vs. Old Dominion/Drexel winner, 1:30 p.m. No. 9 Marquette vs. Akron/Indiana winner, 6 p.m.
