The Marquette women's basketball team (7-5) concludes the non-conference portion of its schedule on Wednesday as it travels to Central Michigan. The Golden Eagles are playing in their first road game since Dec. 5.
Sophomore Arlesia Morse led MU in its last outing as she notched a career-high 25 points and career-best 10 rebounds in a 77-61 victory over Loyola Chicago on Saturday evening. Morse earned a spot on the BIG EAST weekly honor roll for her performance.
The Golden Eagles posted a combined 59 rebounds in the victory, which was a season high for the squad. Juniors Katherine Plouffe and Katie Young contributed double figure rebounds in addition to Morse. Plouffe leads MU with 13.3 points per game and is grabbing 8.1 rebounds each game.
Central Michigan enters the contest with a 6-6 overall record. In the Chippewas last game they defeated Texas at home, 73-65. Jessica Green leads the squad with 12.7 points per game, while Crysta Bradford is recording 12.6 points per game and a team-high 8.7 rebounds per outing.
This is the just the second all-time meeting between the two squads. The Chippewas defeated Marquette 57-52 on Dec. 5, 1987 at a neutral site.
The Golden Eagles will open BIG EAST play on Saturday, Jan. 5 as they host Syracuse at the Al McGuire Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
