RPI Report
The NCAA’s first installment of the RPI came out on Tuesday and four BIG EAST teams ranked among the top 64. Villanova, who received a vote in this week’s USA Today Coaches Poll, led the way at No. 29, followed St. John’s at 30. Creighton debuted at No. 55, while DePaul rounded out the leaders at 61.

Clean Dishes
Villanova on the national scene can be summed up in two words: clean dishes. The Wildcats play a blemish-free style of basketball, leading the nation in least number of turnovers per game at just 9.3. VU also ranks among the national leaders in assists (19th; 18.1 APG), including the top assist turnover ratio (1.94) among all 343 Division I programs.

On The National Scene
In the most recent NCAA rankings released on Monday, Villanova leads all 343 Division I teams in two statistical categories - turnovers per game and assist-turnover ratio. Not including winning percentage, only four teams (including the Wildcats) lead the NCAA in multiple statistical categories. VU’s Caroline Coyer is also the national leader for assist-turnover ratio at 4.69. The Wildcats are the most recent league team to receive votes, earning a nod on Jan. 7.

New Kids On The Block
All three new members to the BIG EAST Conference have collected wins so far, including league leader Creighton, who is atop the standings with a 3-0 mark. Butler follows in a three-way tie for second place with a 2-1 record, while Xavier collected its first BIG EAST win on Sunday over St. John’s.

Putting In Extra Time
Georgetown has played three consecutive overtime games for the first time in school history. Despite a 6-8 record, the Hoyas have lost four games by just two points, including the last three, and six by single-digit margins.

What’s Next
Four BIG EAST games highlight Wednesday night’s action, despite five being scheduled originally. The deep freeze that his hit much of the United States grounded Seton Hall’s flight to Marquette, forcing the two squads to reschedule to February.
