WBB Minute: Rogowski Raises Three-Point Standard

Megan Rogowski sank a BIG EAST season-high eight buckets from beyond the arc on Wednesday en route to a career-high 30 points as DePaul downed Providence 91-71 in one of four BIG EAST games on the night.

The Blue Demons improved to 2-1 in league play, winning for the seventh time in the last eight games, while the Friars fell to 0-3, despite BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll member Alexis Harris scoring 21 points. Rogowski's triple total of eight was one more than the previous season standard held by PC's Tori Rule.

St. John's (2-1) returned to its winning ways by handing Creighton its first BIG EAST loss since joining the conference, 67-48. The Bluejays remain atop the league standings with a 3-1 mark but are now tied with Villanova, which earned a 70-48 win at Butler (2-2) on Wednesday.

The Red Storm led wire-to-wire, at one time owning a 25-point lead over Creighton, which had won five of its last six heading into the night. Amber Thompson tallied a double-double of 11 points, 12 rebounds to lead St. John's. The Wildcats, who trailed at the half by two, outscored the Bulldogs 42-18 in the second for their BIG EAST-best 12th win of the season. The victory was 36th-year head coach Harry Perretta's 650th of his career.

Rounding out the night, Xavier (2-1) claimed its second straight BIG EAST win with an 85-68 victory over visiting Georgetown (0-3).  XU's Ashley Wanninger scored a career-high 26 points, while five-time BIG EAST Freshman of the Week Natalie Butler reached the 20-rebound mark for the second time this season en route to her league-leading 11th double-double (14 points, 20 rebounds).
