Six Women's Basketball Teams Represented in National Polls

 PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Six BIG EAST women's basketball teams remain in both the Associated Press and the USA Today/ESPN Coaches polls after the 11th week of play.
Notre Dame held onto the number two spot in both polls after wins over Pittsburgh, Villanova and then-No. 7/9 Tennessee.  The Fighting Irish (20-1 on the season and 7-0 in league play) poured on the points, scoring 268 in the three games.  ND has proven itself against a tough schedule, recording a 6-1 record against teams ranked in the top-25, with its only loss coming at No. 1/1 Baylor on Nov. 20 in the championship game of the Preseason WNIT.
Connecticut kept its hold at No. 3 in both polls after a 2-0 week.  The Huskies downed Cincinnati and DePaul, scoring more than 80 points and allowing fewer than 44 in each game.  Connecticut has worked its way to a 17-2 record, with its only losses coming at No. 1 Baylor and at No. 2 Notre Dame.  Up next, UConn will host USF on Jan. 28 before travelling to 5/5 Duke for a top-5 matchup on Jan. 30.
Rutgers fell to No. 11 in the AP poll and No. 12 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches' poll aftersuffering its first conference loss of the season, 62-57 at St. John's on Jan. 17.  The Scarlet Knights are 17-3 on the season and currently rank third in the BIG EAST with a 6-1 league record.  In its latest game, RU pulled out a 65-64 home victory against then-No. 23/22 DePaul at home on Jan. 24.  The Knights look to continue their winning ways on Jan. 29 when they travel to No. 20/18 Georgetown for a nationally televised tilt on ESPNU at 1:30 p.m.
Louisville, 16-4 (5-2) jumped to No. 16 in the AP poll No. 14 in the USA Today/ESPN poll after rattling off two straight conference games.  The Cards topped Providence 64-48 at home on Jan. 18 and scored a big 64-61 road win at then-No. 19/17 Georgetown on Jan. 22.  UofL will host Villanova on Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. and will travel to No. 23/22 DePaul on Jan. 31.
Georgetown slipped to No. 20 in the AP poll and No. 18 in the USA Today/ESPN poll.  The Hoyas are 16-5 on the season and are 5-3 in the BIG EAST.  In its last outing, GU rebounded from the loss to Louisville by beating West Virginia 64-54 in Morgantown. 
DePaul's dropped a few spots to No. 23 in the AP poll and No. 22 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' poll.  The Blue Demons have lost three-straight, including a 65-64 heartbreaker at Rutgers on Jan. 24.
