STORRS, Conn.- Connecticut women’s basketball travels to Queens, N.Y. on Saturday to face St. John’s (10-9, 6-3 BIG EAST) at 2 p.m. at the Lou Carneseca Arena. The contest will be televised on the BIG EAST Network and locally on SNY with Bob Picozzi and LaChina Robinson on the call.
UConn owns a 38-17 all-time record over the Red Storm and has won 37 of its last 39. St. John’s snapped its 27-game losing streak against the Huskies and ended UConn’s home winning streak of 99 games with their 57-56 win over Connecticut on February 18, 2012 at Gampel Pavilion. The Huskies went on to defeat the Red Storm, 74-43, on March 5 in the BIG EAST Championship quarterfinal.
The No. 3 Huskies (19-1, 6-1 BIG EAST) are led by sophomore Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis who is averaging 16.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, while freshman Breanna Stewart is scoring 14.5 points and a team-best 7.0 rebounds per contest. Junior Stefanie Dolson has been outstanding for the Huskies averaging 13.8 points and 6.7 boards per game as she has led the squad in scoring in seven contests and currently is the nation’s leader in field goal percentage (61.2).
