REACHING THE MIDPOINT There is a microsite off of the BIG EAST website that features some Mid-Year content, highlighting the women's basketball teams in the league to this point. The Mid-Year report features nominees for Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Game of the Year and Upset of the Year. Fans can watch video highlights of players and games and vote for the best. THREE 20-WIN TEAMS Following a 67-48 win at Cincinnati on Jan. 25, DePaul improve to 20-2 on the season and became the first team in the nation to reach the 20-win plateau. Since then, the Blue Demons upset then-No. 8/8 West Virginia for their 21st win. Connecticut sits at 21-1 and West Virginia is 20-3 this season. Notre Dame is looking for its 20th win of the season at USF on Saturday. A RECORD EIGHT IN THE TOP 25 Six BIG EAST women's basketball teams are ranked in the Associated Press Poll, while a record eight squads are ranked in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' poll. Connecticut leads the BIG EAST at No. 2/2. Notre Dame continued its steady climb, moving up to No. 8/8. DePaul jumped three spots in the AP poll and four in the USA Today/ESPN rankings to No. 9/13. West Virginia slipped in both polls to No. 15/15. The Hoyas moved up two spots in the AP list, while holding fast in the USA Today/ESPN ranks for the No. 17/19 slot. Marquette landed in both national polls for the first time this season, earning the No. 23/24 ranking. The Golden Eagles have not been ranked since the end of the 2006-07 season. St. John's and Syracuse climbed back into the coaches' poll at No. 23 and No. 25, respectively. Syracuse continued to receive votes in the AP list, while Louisville collected a vote in the USA Today/ESPN poll. BATTLE OF THE UNDEFEATED No. 2/2 Connecticut will host No. 9/13 DePaul on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 2:00 p.m. DePaul is 21-2 overall this season and Connecticut is 21-1. Both teams are undefeated in BIG EAST play as the Blue Demons currently hold an 8-0 mark in league action, while the Huskies are 9-0. They are the only two teams in the conference that remain undefeated. The other top-25 BIG EAST matchup this weekend will take place as No. 23/24 Marquette hosts No. NR/23 St. John's on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 8:00 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on local media outlets.
