After stretching its active winning streak to double digits, St. John’s was voted into the top 25 of the AP Poll on Monday, coming in at No. 24 with 69 points. The last time the Red Storm were ranked in the AP Top 25 was Nov. 26, 2012, when St. John’s was slotted at No. 17 with 314 points. DePaul is knocking on the door as well after doubling up its vote total for the third consecutive week.
On The Cusp
DePaul and St. John’s were the first two teams just outside the top 25 in the USA Today Coaches Poll released on Tuesday. The Blue Demons, who are receiving votes in the AP Poll, totaled 24 points, while the Red Storm, who are ranked 24th in the AP, were just behind with 22 points. The 25th-ranked team, Dayton, registered 26 points to earn its spot in the top 25.
Four BIG EAST teams will enjoy a mid-week bye as only six will play prior to Saturday’s five-game slate. Providence will host Marquette on Tuesday night in the lone tilt before Butler travels to Villanova and Georgetown hosts Seton Hall on Wednesday evening.
Weekend Sneak Peak
