CONFERENCE COMPOSITE SCHEDULE

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
Coming off a season that saw a record nine teams advance to the NCAA Championship and one team to the WNIT, the BIG EAST Conference announces its 2011-12 women's basketball schedule, including television coverage. The 2011-12 television schedule features all 16 teams for the sixth-consecutive year and continues to be one of the top television slates in the nation. The league's overall exposure includes one game on CBS Sports, 12 games on ESPN/ESPN2, 16 games on ESPNU and 13 games on CBS Sports Network for a total of 96 appearances, the highest mark for BIG EAST women's basketball.

The Conference will have a presence on CBS Sports for the 17th straight year. Notre Dame will host Connecticut on January 7 at 4 p.m. ET, in what is primed to be a top-25 matchup. The two teams met in South Bend, Ind. last season and the game did not disappoint as the No. 13 Fighting Irish battled No. 2 Connecticut in front of a packed house, falling 79-76. The game proved to be a preview of a Final Four matchup, which the Irish won, 72-63.

The BIG EAST's 18 appearances on ESPN/ESPN2 include five regular season conference games. All of the games also will be simulcast on ESPN3.com. The BIG EAST is one of two conferences to be featured on the channel this season.

This year's schedule also is highlighted by a pair of ESPN2 events, the Women's Jimmy V Classic and Play 4Kay, formerly known as WBCA Pink Zone. Connecticut faces an early-season test against NCAA defending champion Texas A&M on ESPN2 at the Women's Jimmy V Classic on Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. The only women's game to be featured on the slate, the contest will be a matchup between two of the 2011 NCAA Final Four teams.

Play 4Kay will feature five BIG EAST teams on ESPN2, showing two conference tilts and a nonconference contest. On Feb. 12, St. John's will travel to Rutgers and Marquette will play at DePaul. Connecticut will play at Oklahoma on Feb. 13 at 9 p.m., which is one of four Big Monday appearances in which the Huskies will be featured. Also as part of the Play 4Kay event, West Virginia will play Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. on ESPNU.

Connecticut's game at Baylor on Dec. 18 at 8:30 p.m. will be televised on ESPN, and a conference tilt between Louisville and Georgetown on Jan. 22 will be shown on ESPN2.

BIG EAST Conference women's basketball will have five Big Monday games this season televised on ESPN2 and one on ESPN. The Big Monday tipoff will come on Jan. 16, when Connecticut hosts North Carolina on ESPN2. The Tar Heels will be looking for revenge after the teams met in January of 2010 during the Huskies' 90-game winning streak.

Notre Dame will host Tennessee on Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. The Fighting Irish defeated the Lady Vols 73-59 to advance to the Final Four last season in the NCAA Championship. On Jan. 30, Connecticut will play at Duke. The Huskies and Blue Devils met twice last year, first with Connecticut taking an 87-51 victory during the regular season, followed by an NCAA Championship rematch, again resulting in a UConn win and a trip to the Final Four. In a Big Monday conference matchup televised on ESPN, Notre Dame will play Louisville in the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky. on Feb. 20 at 2 p.m.

A conference game will wrap up the Big Monday schedule, with Notre Dame at Connecticut at 9 p.m. on Feb. 27, the final day of the regular season. The game will be a rematch of the 2011 BIG EAST Women's Basketball Championship final as well as 2011 NCAA Final Four tilt. Prior to the official Big Monday schedule, Stanford will play at Connecticut on Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in a game televised on ESPNU.

The Conference will have "Game of the Week" packages on the CBS Sports Network and the BIG EAST Regional Sports Network. ESPNU also will televise numerous games on Sundays during the regular season.

The BIG EAST will appear on ESPNU 26 times, including five regular-season conference games, six nonconference matchups and three of the BIG EAST Championship quarterfinals on March 4 and the semifinal rounds on March 5. ESPNU can now be seen in more than 73 million homes and will showcase 11 BIG EAST teams throughout the conference season.

The sixth-annual Maggie Dixon Classic at Madison Square Garden will take place on Dec. 11. St. John's will square off against Baylor at 11 a.m., while DePaul will face off against Tennessee at 1 p.m.

Conference action on ESPNU begins on Jan. 8 with Louisville at St. John's and runs most Sundays through Feb. 12, wrapping up the regular season with West Virginia at Notre Dame before televising the BIG EAST Championship Quarterfinals.

CBS Sports Network will continue its "Conference Game of the Week" broadcasts. The BIG EAST's record-breaking 26 appearances will consist of 13 conference games, including four doubleheaders. The schedule begins on Jan. 3 when Syracuse plays at Rutgers at 9 p.m. Twelve of the 13 conference games will be on Tuesdays. The first doubleheader is on Jan. 10, as two NCAA Championship teams battle in Notre Dame at Georgetown at 7 p.m., followed by Villanova at Marquette at 9 p.m. The games run through Feb. 27, the last day of the regular season. West Virginia hosts Pittsburgh at 7 p.m. to wrap up the league schedule. The CBS Sports Network schedule features 13 BIG EAST schools.

The BIG EAST Network Game of the Week Regional Television Package is in its sixth year and will feature a total of 24 appearances by league schools on Saturdays, including all four games of the BIG EAST Championship Second Round on March 3. ESPN Regional Television will once again produce every game and SportsNet New York (SNY) will carry the entire package live in the nation's No. 1 media market.

For the fourth time in five years, all 16 BIG EAST schools are featured in the BETV Game of the Week package on Saturdays. The weekly airings will begin on Jan. 7 and run every Saturday until the end of the regular season on Feb. 25. Every game will air on the league's flagship regional sports network, SNY, as well as numerous local affiliates across the country. The weekly game will air immediately preceding or following the BIG EAST men's Game of the Week allowing many affiliates to carry a doubleheader. RSNs in various markets are still in the process of committing to the package, which will also be available via RSN-sports packages on DirecTV and DISH Network. Some BETV games also will be available on ESPN Full Court.

The BIG EAST continues to expand its women's basketball website coverage for 2011-12. For the fourth-straight year, fans can watch both the first and second rounds of the conference championship live on BIGEAST.tv, the league's online home for live and on-demand streaming audio and video. Both days of coverage, as well as the Saturday Game of the Week package, will be free to viewers. Users should visit www.bigeast.tv for more information.
