The 2012 BIG EAST Championship brought plenty of excitement to the XL Center. For the second straight year, the final game featured a matchup that was a preview of an NCAA semifinal. No. 3 seed Connecticut held off top-ranked Notre Dame to win the 2012 crown. It was Connecticut's 17th title, including its seventh in the last eight years. It was Notre Dame's sixth trip to the championship game. Both teams advanced to the 2012 NCAA Final Four, where Notre Dame defeated the Huskies and advanced to the NCAA title game.
Fans can watch both the first and second rounds of the Conference championship live on BIGEAST.tv, the league's online home for live and on-demand streaming audio and video. The second-round games on March 9 will be aired as part of the BIG EAST Network, which is broadcast via regional sports networks in BIG EAST markets. SportsNet New York (SNY) is the flagship station for the BIG EAST Game of the Week during the regular season and will also carry all four second-round tournament games as well. The quarterfinals on March 10 will be televised on ESPNU/BETV and the semifinals on March 11 will be shown on ESPNU. The championship game, on March 12, will appear on ESPN or ESPN2.
