WBB Minute - Louisville Takes On Colorado Friday Night

Updated BIG EAST Notes

A quiet week in the midst of exams has teams off on Thursday and just one team in action Friday night as No. 8/8 Louisville (9-1) heads to Colorado for a 9 p.m. tipoff.

On Saturday, five BIG EAST squads take the court as St. John's (4-3) hosts Tennessee Tech at Noon, Syracuse (9-1) takes on Binghamton at 1 p.m., and Cincinnati (6-2) travels to Akron at 2 p.m. Later in the day, Marquette (4-4) welcomes Toledo and DePaul (7-3) tackles Northern Illinois. Both games begin at 8 p.m.

On Wednesday night, Villanova (8-1) extended its winning streak to seven games with a 61-54 victory over scrappy Princeton. The Wildcats also won seven in a row last year (Nov. 26-Dec. 29, 2011) and have not lost a game in almost two years (Dec. 19, 2010).

VU freshman Caroline Coyer led the team with 12 points. The Wildcats had a balanced attack with nine players recording a basket. Villanova made eight 3-pointers and continues to lead the league, averaging 8.3 3-pointers per game. The Wildcats have led the league in 3-point field goals made each of the last five years since 2007-08.

Also on Wednesday, Rutgers (6-3) topped Southern University 63-49. The Scarlet Knights are riding a three-game winning streak and are in the midst of a three-game homestand. Rutgers improved to 4-0 at home this year and have won six straight games at the RAC dating back to last season (Feb. 12, 2012). Senior Chelsey Lee scored a career-high 21 points to lead RU.
