Four BIG EAST women's basketball teams were in action on Wednesday and all four won improving the league's nonconference record to 131-47 (.736). The league heads into Christmas break until Dec. 28, when games resume. No. 20/19 Georgetown (10-3) rolled over Coppin State 73-52 and extended its home win streak to 21 games. Sophomore Sugar Rodgers led the way with her first double-double of the year as she totaled 22 points and 10 rebounds. No. 23/RV Syracuse (9-1) rebounded from its first loss of the year with a 77-58 victory over Clemson in the final day of the Bahamas Sunshine Shootout. Sophomore Kayla Alexander had a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. The center was a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line. Providence edged Oakland 50-49 at home. Senior Mi-Khida Hankins scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the way for the Friars (6-6). Hankins also scored her 1,000th point in the game and has 1,011 for her career. Seton Hall (6-7) also won a close one as it beat La Salle 65-62 to earn its sixth win of the year. Junior Tajay Ashmeade recorded her second double-double of the season with career-highs of 15 points and 21 boards.
