Connecticut forward Anna Jeute scored the game-winner as the No. 7 Huskies (16-4, 6-1 BIG EAST) defeated No. 19 Temple (14-6, 4-4 BIG EAST), 3-0, in the semifinal round of the BIG EAST Championship in Storrs, Conn.
Jeute gave the Huskies a quick 1-0 lead at 6:44 with an unassisted backhanded shot into the left side of the net.
Midfielder Roisin Upton added to the lead at 22:09 after Jeute took a penalty corner, and Upton took the ball and tipped it in.
UConn held possession for the majority of the first half, using the team's speed to get the ball quickly up the field and into the circle. The Huskies led in shots, 9-2, at the end of the half.
The Huskies continued to press in the second half, outshooting the Owls 12-2.
Forward Chloe Hunnable scored her conference-leading 19th goal at 61:28 off a fast break to left of the cage. Forward Marie Elena Bolles challenged the Temple goalkeeper Lizzy Millen before passing the ball, allowing Hunnable to take a shot at an empty net.
Connecticut held a 21-4 advantage in shots and a 7-3 advantage in penalty corners. Jeute was given a green card at 55:54.
The Huskies take on the winner of No. 5 Old Dominion/No. 14 Louisville Sunday at 1 p.m. in the BIG EAST Championship final.
