have taken the second weekly BIG EAST field hockey Player of the Week honors. Cardinal senior Hayley Turner was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, while Husky senior Kim Krzyk was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week.
Turner scored twice in each of Louisville's games for a total of four goals and eight points. In the 5-3 win over Davidson on Sept. 3, she registered the game-tying and insurance goals. Turner accounted for both of Louisville's goals against No. 11 Wake Forest on Sept. 4, including the game-tying goal she scored at the 69:08 mark to send the game to overtime. She leads the team with four goals and nine points on the season. Turner is tied for fifth place on the school's list for career goals (38) and takes over fifth place in career points (89). Turner will lead the Cardinals this week as they host Missouri State on Sept. 9 and Appalachian State on Sept. 11.
Krzyk anchored a Husky defense that held two nationally ranked teams to only three goals in two games. During Connecticut's 4-2 victory over No. 20 Stanford on Aug. 29, the defense allowed only seven shots on goal, while holding No. 8 Penn State to only four on Sept. 4. Krzyk also scored the game-winning goal in overtime for the Huskies in their 2-1 victory over Penn State, while adding an assist in the win over Stanford.
The BIG EAST defeated three top-20 teams this past week, with No. 4 Connecticut edging No. 8 Penn State and No. 20 Stanford, and No. 5 Syracuse
downing No. 11 Wake Forest 4-1. There are three top-20 matchups in the upcoming week as No. 5 Syracuse visits No. 6 Ohio State and No. 4 Connecticut plays host to No. 17 Albany and No. 18 Drexel. Villanova
will also face a ranked team as it takes on No. 1, and defending national champion, Maryland on Sunday. BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
