WASHINGTON – Georgetown University sophomore field hockey player Sarah Butterfield (Bridgewater, N.J./Oak Knoll) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. The news came via the BIG EAST Field Hockey Press Release.
Butterfield, a forward, scored her third goal of the season on Sunday at Cornell in a 3-1 Georgetown loss.
Butterfield leads the Blue & Gray with three goals and six points. She has scored three of the four total goals for Georgetown this season.
The sophomore forward surpassed her 2012 goal total in the Hoyas’ third game of the season when they hosted Towson.
Last season, in a roster dominated by upperclassmen, Butterfield scored one goal and had two assists for a total of four points in her freshman campaign. She appeared in 19 games, making 10 starts in 2012.
Butterfield has started all six games this season.
The women’s field hockey team plays their first BIG EAST Conference game of the season Fri., Sept. 20 when they face Providence in Providence, R.I. at 7 p.m. It will conclude the Hoyas’ four-road game stretch before they return home Sun., Sept. 22 when they host Holy Cross at the University of Maryland’s Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex at 4 p.m.
