Louisville Sweeps Field Hockey Weekly Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Louisville has earned both of the BIG EAST field hockey Player of the Week honors for the fourth week of the season. Sophomore forward Elizabeth Vance was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week while junior goalkeeper Erin Conrad was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week.

Vance helped the Cardinals to a 2-0 record last week, scoring a goal in each game, including the gamewinner in the 1-0 victory over No. 17 American on the road on Sept. 18. She also had a goal and an assist in Louisville's BIG EAST-opening 5-0 win over Georgetown. Vance is now second on the team with four goals on the season, which also ties her for sixth in the league.

Conrad posted six saves en route to back-to-back shutouts on the weekend. She registered six saves in the 1-0 victory at No. 17 American as the Eagles outshot the Cardinals 14-7. Conrad has recorded four consecutive shutouts, and has not allowed a goal in over 280 minutes of play. This season, she has recorded a goals against average of 1.24 with a .756 saves percentage.

BIG EAST teams will face two top-ranked opponents this week. Louisville will host No. 10 New Hampshire and No. 5 Syracuse will welcome No. 14 Boston University, both on Sept. 25. League play continues with three more games scheduled for the week. The Cardinals will host the fifth-ranked Orange on Sept. 23, No. 4 Connecticut will travel to Providence on Sept. 24 and Rutgers will square-off at Villanova, also on Sept. 24.
