PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Syracuse junior Kelsey Millman was tabbed BIG EAST field hockey Offensive Player of the Week and Connecticut senior Jestine Angelini was named BIG EAST field hockey Defensive Player of the Week.
Millman collected seven points (one goal, five assists) in two wins for the Orange. She scored one goal and added three assists in an 8-0 win against Providence on Sept. 30, and had an assist on each of the Orange's two goals in a 2-0 victory over Massachusetts on Oct. 2. Millman is tied for first in the conference with 23 points and 2.09 points per game and ranks second with nine assists. As of Sept. 25, she ranked 39th in the nation in points per game.
Angelini anchored a defense that held its opposition to only three goals in three games last week and posted a shutout over Yale, which has the nation's sixth-highest scoring offense. Angelini and the Huskies' defense have produced five shutouts on the season and have held their opponents to one goal or less in all eight. She also scored a goal in a 4-2 win over No. 19 Louisville.
The BIG EAST will face four top-20 opponents in the upcoming week. Providence will play at No. 8 Boston College on Oct. 3, No. 19 Louisville will travel to No. 20 Ohio State on Oct. 4, Villanova will head to in-state rival No. 7 Penn State on Oct. 4 and No. 5 Syracuse will host No. 17 Albany on Oct. 5
