Connecticut's Mansfield and Rutgers' Patrone Earn BIG EAST Field Hockey Weekly Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Rutgers' Lisa Patrone was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week and Connecticut's Sarah Mansfield earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors for Week 7. The juniors led their teams to league wins last week.

 

Patrone took BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors after tallying six points in a 5-1 win over Georgetown. The junior's hat trick led the Scarlet Knights to their first league win this season. Rutgers out-shot Georgetown 23-8 and held a 13-3 advantage on penalty corners in the win at College Park, Md. Patrone leads the Scarlet Knights with 19 points and eight goals. 

 

Mansfield earned defensive accolades after recording 13 saves in a 2-0 week for the Huskies. No. 3 Connecticut shut out UMass 2-0 and beat Louisville 2-1 last week. The 2-0 shutout against UMass is Mansfield's sixth of the season. No. 3 Connecticut is out to a 13-0 start for the second time in school history, including a 4-0 record in league play.   

 

BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Louisa Boddy, Connecticut, GS, B

Boddy scored both goals in a 2-1 win over Louisville.

 

Erin Conrad, Louisville, Sr., GK

Conrad recorded a combined 14 saves in a 2-1 win over No. 11 Iowa and a 2-1 loss to No. 3 Connecticut.

 

Kelsey Millman, Syracuse, Sr., F

Millman tallied one goal and one assist in a 3-0 win over Providence.

 

Leann Stiver, Syracuse, Sr., GK

Stiver recorded her fifth straight shutout and six saves in a 3-0 win over Providence.

 

Victoria Stratton, Louisville, Fr., B

Stratton scored the gamewinner in Louisville's 2-1 win over No. 11 Iowa, Louisville's first win over a ranked opponent.
