Louisville and Connecticut Land Repeat BIG EAST Field Hockey Weekly Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - No. 10 Louisville and No. 5 Connecticut split the BIG EAST field hockey weekly awards. Louisville senior Nicole Youman was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, while Connecticut junior Rayell Heistand earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors. This was the third such honor for Youman and second honor for Heistand. 
Youman led the tenth-ranked Cardinals to a 2-0 record last week with three goals and five assists for 11 points. In a 6-0 win over Villanova Oct. 16, the senior scored a pair of goals and recorded three assists. She also register- season record for assists with 18 and increased her school-best career tally to 51. Youman leads the team with 15 goals, 18 assists and 48 points this season.
Heistand anchored a Connecticut defense that allowed only two goals in a 2-0 week, which included a 4-0 shutout at Northeastern Oct. 13 and a 4-2 win over No. 4 Princeton Oct. 17. She also got into the offensive attack, tallying an assist in each contest. Heistand led the Huskies to their sixth shutout of the season. The team has allowed only 14 goals (0.93 gpg) this season. This is Heistand's second honor this season and fourth for the UConn defense.
The BIG EAST enters its sixth week of conference play as Georgetown travels to Villanova Oct. 22 for a 7 p.m. start. No. 8 Syracuse hosts No. 5 Connecticut at noon on Oct. 23 for a top-10 matchup, while No. 10 Louisville visits Providence for a 1 p.m. game. In other ranked-opponent action this week, No. 8 Syracuse hosts No. 14 Boston College on Oct. 24 at 1 p.m.
