Syracuse's Pinder and Louisville's Voelmle Named BIG EAST Field Hockey Award Winners

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Syracuse's Gillian Pinder and Louisville's Alyssa Voelmle collected BIG EAST Field Hockey Player of the Week Awards for Week 9. Pinder was tabbed for offensive honors while Voelmle earned defensive accolades.

 

Pinder scored two goals and tallied two assists for No. 4 Syracuse in a 4-2 win over No. 16 Boston College on Oct. 21. The freshman also recorded one assist in a 7-2 win against Georgetown at College Park, Md., on Oct. 19. Pinder's 20 points this season rank second among BIG EAST freshmen.

 

Voelmle was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week after leading a Louisville defense that allowed just four shots in a 3-1 win over Villanova. The sophomore also scored a goal in the league victory for the Cardinals. The Louisville defense also held the Wildcats to one penalty corner.

Chloe Hunnable, Connecticut, So., F

Hunnable scored two goals and tallied one assist in a 2-1 win at No. 16 Boston College.

 

Alyssa Manley, Syracuse, Fr., M

Manley recorded an assist against No. 16 Boston College and anchored the Orange defense in a 2-0 week.

 

Erin Schneidtmiller, Louisville, Jr., F/M

Schneidtmiller registered one goal and one assist in a 3-1 league win over Villanova.

 

Henni Tietze, Providence, So., B

Tietze scored the game-tying goal against Rutgers in a 2-1 win, while leading the Providence defense which allowed just four shots in the second half against the Scarlet Knights.

 

Sophie Wright, Rutgers, So., M

Wright scored one goal in a 2-1 league loss to Providence last week.
