PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Connecticut sophomore Anne Jeute has been named BIG EAST field hockey Offensive Player of the Week and Louisville junior Erin Conrad was dubbed BIG EAST field hockey Defensive Player of the Week for the ninth week of competition.
Jeute scored two goals and added an assist in a 2-0 week for the Huskies, which included a 2-1 win over No. 16 Boston University on Oct. 19 and a 3-2 double-overtime victory over No. 6 Syracuse on Oct. 23. She scored the first goal of the game for the Huskies against BU on a corner redirection. Jeute also scored in the conference game against the Orange and assisted on Marie Elena Bolles' gamewinner in double overtime. She helped UConn clinch at least a share of its 12th BIG EAST regular-season championship since 1996. Jeute has scored eight goals, ranking her second on the team. She dished out three assists this season and has a total of 19 points, which is fourth-highest on the team.
Conrad posted a combined six saves in two shutout wins last week. She collected three saves in a 6-0 win over Providence on Oct. 21 as the Cardinals secured a spot in the BIG EAST Championship. Conrad followed with three stops in her second-straight shutout in a 1-0 victory over No. 19 Indiana on Oct. 23. She has six shutouts on the season, tying her for sixth on the school's single season list. She also has 11 career shutouts, placing her fifth on Louisville's all-time list.
All four spots to the BIG EAST Championship have been clinched. With a victory over Syracuse in the regular-season, Connecticut grabbed the No. 1 seed. Louisville has secured the No. 4 seed while Syracuse and Villanova will face off in their last regular-season conference game on Oct. 28 to determine the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds.
