Villanova's High and Louisville's Conrad Named BIG EAST Field Hockey Award Winners

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Villanova's Leah High and Louisville's Erin Conrad were named the BIG EAST field hockey weekly award winners following the final week of the regular season. High was tabbed BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week while Conrad earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors.

 

High recorded a single-game league-high nine points in a 5-3 win over Georgetown, scoring four goals to lead Villanova. The sophomore also notched one goal and one assist in a 3-2 loss to Penn, totaling 12 points last week. The Wildcats concluded their season at 7-12 and 2-4 in BIG EAST play.

 

Conrad was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week after making 10 saves in a must-win against Providence. With the 2-1 win, Louisville enters the 2012 BIG EAST Field Hockey field as the No. 3 seed. The senior also recorded four saves in a 4-3 overtime win over No. 21 Ohio State last week.

 

BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Moriah Allen, Villanova, Sr., B

Allen helped limit Georgetown to eight shots and six penalty corners in a 5-3 win for the Wildcats.

 

Liz McInerney, Syracuse, Gr., M

McInerney  scored one goal in a 3-2 win over No. 4 Connecticut that earned the Orange the BIG EAST regular season title.

 

Gillian Pinder, Syracuse, Fr., M

Pinder recorded one goal and one assist in a 3-2 win over No. 4 Connecticut that earned the Orange the BIG EAST regular season title.

 

Erin Schneidtmiller, Louisville, Jr., F/M

Schneidtmiller notched five points in a 2-0 week for the Cardinals, including one goal in a 2-1 win over Providence to earn the No. 3 seed in the BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship.

 

Henni Tietze, Providence, So., B

Tietze became the leading goal scorer for the Friars with 10 goals after scoring the only goal for Providence in a 2-1 loss to Louisville.
