Connecticut's Nancy Stevens Named Dita/NFHCA Mideast Region Coach of the Year




 PROVIDENCE, R.I. -  Connecticut field hockey head coach Nancy Stevens was named as the Dita/NFHCA Mideast Region Coach of the Year, as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches' Association.  Stevens led the Huskies to a 19-3 overall record and an appearance in the 2011 NCAA Division I Final Four.  Connecticut captured the 2011 BIG EAST Regular Season title and Stevens was recognized as the BIG EAST Coach of the Year for her efforts.  The 2011 season marked the seventh time she was awarded with the conference honor. 

The 2011 Dita/NFHCA Division I National Coach of the Year will be announced at the NFHCA Coaches Recognition Luncheon to be held on Friday, January 13, 2012 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Other candidates are Missy Meharg of Maryland, Robin Balducci of New Hampshire, Beth Anders of Old Dominion and Tracey Griesbaum of Iowa.
