MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women’s lacrosse team has announced its promotional schedule for the upcoming 2013 season, including a campaign in support of the fight against pancreatic cancer.
The Golden Eagles kick off the home portion of their schedule on Saturday, Feb. 23 at noon against Duquesne. The first 300 individuals in attendance at the game against the Dukes will receive a Marquette knit winter hat.
In addition to the winter hat giveaway at MU’s inaugural home contest, youth lacrosse participants can receive 2-for-1 admission for wearing team jerseys.
The Sunday, March 3 contest against Detroit is camper reunion day where all 2012 summer campers will get in free of charge.
The Golden Eagles return home following spring break and will host a 3 p.m. game against Harvard on Tuesday, March 19. Game admission is just $2 against the Crimson and all students, faculty and staff are invited to the Valley for a “Snack with SAAC” break during the afternoon contest, courtesy of Marquette’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
“Lacrosse 101 Night” will be held on Friday, March 22 against Villanova at 5 p.m. Interactive stations, activity sheets and in-game promotions will give patrons a better understanding of women’s lacrosse. The Villanova game will also feature a canned food drive benefiting the Hunger Task Force. All fans who donate two non-perishable food items will receive free admission.
MU will cap off its three-game homestand on Sunday, March 24 against Rutgers by hosting a post-match clinic. All Marquette Kids Club members can attend the game for free while participation in a post-match clinic is offered for just $10 to youth ages 5-14 and includes admission, a snack and a t-shirt.
The Golden Eagles will host their final two home games of the season on Friday, April 12 and Sunday, April 14. Both games are high school team days, featuring $2 admission for pre-registered high school teams. Friday’s match is also “Bang for your Buck Night” with hot dogs, sodas and chips just $1.
The final homestand also holds special significance as the Golden Eagles will spend the weekend raising funds for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s fight against pancreatic cancer. Marquette will hold a 50/50 raffle on Friday evening against Georgetown, while Sunday’s match vs. Loyola Maryland will highlight the season-long campaign goal of a $5,000 donation to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
