Offensive Player of the Week
Lauren Kahn, Connecticut, Jr., M
Kahn was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after she totaled 12 points in a 2-0 week for the Huskies. The junior had four points, including three goals in a 13-8 win at rv/15 Boston College on Feb. 27. It was UConn's first win over a ranked team since 2007. Kahn also had eight points, including six assists in a 20-6 victory at Quinnipiac on March 2. Kahn also totaled six draw controls, five caused turnovers and four ground balls in the two road wins.
Defensive Player of the Week
Margaret Smith, Notre Dame, Jr., M
Smith was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Irish to a 2-0 week, including a 13-8 win over then-No. 13/18 Ohio State on Feb. 27. She totaled five ground balls, six draw controls and five caused turnovers in the two wins. The junior also scored six goals. In the win over the Buckeyes, Smith had five caused turnovers, four goals, four ground balls and three draw controls. In a 10-8 win at Duquesne on March 2, she had three draw controls and two goals.

Made seven saves in an 11-6 win against Princeton on March 1 at home.
Hannah Schmitt, Loyola, So., A
Totaled six points in a 1-1 week; accounted for the gamewinner with 10 seconds left to secure an 11-10 win at then-No. 16/16 Towson on March 2.
Jaimie Morrison, Notre Dame, Sr., A
Had eight points in a 2-0 week; registered six points in a 13-8 win over then-No. 13/18 Ohio State on Feb. 27 at home.
Amanda Trendell, Rutgers, R-Jr., A
Had five points, including four goals in an 11-8 win at Monmouth on March 2. She also snagged two ground balls.
Jessica Mucci, Villanova, So., A
Tallied a career-high seven points in an 11-8 win over Central Connecticut on March 2 at home. Mucci had six assists.
The Inside Scoop
Six Teams In WLax Media Poll - A quartet of BIG EAST teams were ranked in the top-12 of the March 4 deBeer Media Poll, while two others received votes. Notre Dame leads the charge at No. 6, while Syracuse is at No. 7 and Georgetown at No. 8. Loyola is ranked No. 12, while UConn and Louisville are receiving votes.
Three Wins Over Ranked Teams Last Week - The BIG EAST had two wins over ranked teams on Wednesday, Feb. 27. UConn won at No. 15/rv Boston College 13-8 and secured its first victory over a ranked team since 2007. In addition, Notre Dame beat No. 13/18 Ohio State 13-8 in its home opener. On March 2, Loyola beat No. 16/16 Towson 11-10.
League teams are a combined 7-4 against ranked teams this season. Six different programs (Connecticut, Georgetown, Louisville, Loyola, Notre Dame and Syracuse) have accounted for the wins.
