Offensive Player of the Week
Jessica Mucci, Villanova, So., A
Mucci earned BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors after totaling 13 points in a 2-0 week for the Wildcats. The sophomore had five points, including four assists in a 16-7 win at Columbia on March 13. Mucci recorded a career-high eight points in an 11-7 win against Davidson on March 16 at home. She leads the Wildcats with 31 points and leads the BIG EAST with 24 assists.
Defensive Player of the Week
Meg Gulmi, Cincinnati, Fr., GK
Gulmi was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week after amassing 16 saves in a 2-0 week for the Bearcats. In a 22-6 win against Presbyterian on March 17, Gulmi had four saves in 38 minutes. The 22 goals scored were a school record. In a 7-3 victory against Liberty on March 14, the rookie had 12 saves. Last week, she faced 32 shots in the two games and allowed just eight goals.
Kacey Pippitt, Connecticut, Jr., M
Had five points, including four goals in a 19-8 win against Binghamton on March 16; she also had eight draw controls.
Kelyn Freedman, Georgetown, Jr., M
Recorded eight points in a 1-1 week; had seven points, including five goals in a 15-8 win at No. 12/10 John's Hopkins on March 13.
Katie Oliverio, Louisville, Sr., A
Tallied nine points in a 2-0 week; Oliverio had six points, including four assists, along with four ground balls in a 19-2 win against Detroit on March 13 at home.
Barbara Sullivan, Notre Dame, So., D
Totaled a school-record with nine draw controls in a 12-11 come-from-behind win at Vanderbilt on March 13; she also had a team-best five ground balls and one caused turnover.
Amanda Hirschfeld, Villanova, Sr., GK
Collected 20 saves in a 2-0 week with wins over Columbia and Davidson; she had a career-high nine ground balls and made 12 saves in a 16-7 win at Columbia on March 13.

SEVEN TEAM IN WLAX MEDIA POLL - Six BIG EAST teams were ranked in the top-20 of the March 18 deBeer Media Poll, while one other received votes. Syracuse leads the charge at No. 6, while Notre Dame is at No. 7 and Georgetown at No. 8. Loyola is ranked No. 18, while Rutgers is at No. 19 and Louisville is ranked No. 20. UConn also is receiving votes.
LEAGUE PLAY BEGINS THIS WEEKEND - BIG EAST teams begin league play this weekened with all nine teams getting a taste of league action on either Friday or Sunday. Last year Syracuse won the league's regular-season title with a perfect 8-0 record. This year, the Orange were picked to repeat in the league's preseason poll.
