NEW YORK – With Connecticut’s 14-5 win over visiting Villanova on Saturday afternoon, the field for the 2014 BIG EAST Women’s Lacrosse Tournament has been set. No. 1 Louisville will face no. 4 Rutgers in the first Semifinal on May 1 at 5:30 p.m. (ET), followed by No. 2 seed and host Georgetown against No. 3 seed Connecticut at 8:15. All games will be played at GU’s Multi-Sport Field. The winners of each Semifinal will advance to the Final, set for May 3 at 2:30 p.m.

FOX Sports 2 will air the Final, while a free live stream of both Semifinal games will be offered on www.BIGEAST.com.

The Hoyas will look to become the first team to win on their home field since the inaugural tournament in 2007, while the Cardinals, Huskies and Scarlet Knights are all eyeing their first BIG EAST Championship crown. GU is the lone past champion in the field, winning the trophy in 2010.

Louisville finished the conference season 7-0 and claimed its first BIG EAST regular-season title, while going 13-3 overall. Georgetown went 6-1 with its lone loss to the Cardinals and shows a 9-7 overall mark. Connecticut earned the third seed by finishing league play 5-2 and is 10-6 overall. The Scarlet Knights earned the final bid by virtue of an advantage of point differential after finishing the season in a three-way tie at 3-4 with Villanova and Temple. RU is 9-8 overall.

Louisville defeated Rutgers a week ago from today in Kentucky, 18-6. Georgetown won at Connecticut in mid-April, 11-10.
