WASHINGTON, D.C. - The title game of the 2013 BIG EAST women's lacrosse championship features No. 1 seed Syracuse (15-3) against No. 2 seed and host Georgetown (13-4). The teams will square off on Saturday, May 4 at 1 p.m., ET. The contest will be televised live on the CBS Sports Network with Ben Holden (play-by-play) and Sheehan Stanwick Burch (color analyst) on the call.
SERIES HISTORY - Georgetown leads the all-time series 14-7, but Syracuse has won the last three meetings. Most recently, the teams met last Sunday with the Orange posting 13-7 victory here in Washington, D.C.
BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY - SU holds a 3-1 edge in BIG EAST Tournament play, with the last two games decided by a total of three goals.
The teams met for the 2010 title in Piscataway, N.J., with the Hoyas posting 13-11 win for their first tournament title. The teams also met for the 2008 and 2007 titles, with the Orange capturing both crowns. Each team's title has come at the others' expense.
NCAA SELECTION SHOW - The winner of the BIG EAST Championship receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship. The 2013 NCAA Championship marks the first year that the field will be comprised of 26 teams. The field will include 13 automatic qualifiers and 13 at-large bids to be announced during a selection show, Sunday, May 5. The field will be selected from 100 NCAA Division I institutions sponsoring the sport of women's lacrosse. The top eight teams will host first and second round competition with seeds one through six receiving first-round byes. The bracket will be available on www.ncaa.com at 9 p.m. ET.
