WLax Minute - Syracuse Readies For NCAA Quarterfinals

SATURDAY SHOWDOWN - The Syracuse women's lacrosse team hosts Florida on Saturday, May 18 in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship. It is a rematch of last year's NCAA semifinal which saw the Orange rally from a seven-goal deficit and edge Florida 14-13 in double overtime in Stony Brook, N.Y.


Earlier this season on March 2, Florida beat Syracuse 14-10 in Sun Life Stadium as part of the Orange Bowl Lacrosse Classic. The Orange (17-3) are the No. 4 seed in the tournament, while Florida (18-2) is the No. 5 seed. Syracuse has won 12 in a row and has not lost since March 30.


The winner advances to the semifinals of the NCAA Championship which will be held May 24 at Villanova Stadium in Villanova, Pa.


The game will be broadcast in Florida on Sun Sports (DirecTV channel 653) and can also be seen live online for free via SU All-Access.


11 EARN IWLCA ALL-AMERICA HONORS - Eleven BIG EAST women's lacrosse players have earned IWLCA All-America honors, including four first team selections. Syracuse led the way with four honorees, including three first team honors. The trio of SU first team picks matches the program's highest total set last season.
