Five BIG EAST Players Named IWLCA All-Americans

NEW YORK – The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has honored 48 student-athletes in Division I with a selection on the All-America teams for 2014, with five of those representing BIG EAST teams. BIG EAST regular season and tournament champions Louisville led the way with four citations, while Connecticut garnered one.

Louisville senior attacker Nikki Boltja was named to the first team, while teammate Kaylin Morissette, a sophomore midfielder, and UConn’s Lauren Kahn, a senior midfielder, collected second-team honors. Cardinal junior attacker Faye Brust and senior defender Monica Negron were named to the third team.

All four Louisville players were unanimous All-BIG EAST First Team selections, while Kahn was also selected to the top squad. Boltja was the unanimous BIG EAST Attack Player of the Year, while Morissette was the conference’s Midfielder of the Year and Negron the Defensive Player of the Year. Brust was named the BIG EAST Championship’s Most Outstanding Player, leading the Cardinals’ to their lone conference title in program history.
