Aug. 12, 2013

Nashville, Tenn. - The Louisville women's soccer team scored four goals for a 4-3 exhibition win over Vanderbilt on Sunday evening.

"Overall I am pleased with our first game, it was a great starting point," said head coach Karen Ferguson Dayes. "I think we have some great attacking personalities, but at times they definitely exposed us defensively. We will use this opportunity to get better."

The Cardinals got on the board first scoring the first two goals of the match in the first half. Vanderbilt then cut the lead to 2-1. Louisville scored again right before the break for a 3-1 halftime lead.

Louisville scored early in the second half to take a 4-1 lead over the Commodores. Vanderbilt was able to score two quick goals to get within one goal. The Cardinal defense kept the Commodores at by for the victory.

The Cardinals will wrap up exhibition play on Saturday, Aug. 17 at Purdue. The match time is set for 1:00 p.m. EST.
