Women's Soccer Falls To Seton Hall, 1-0

South Orange, N.J. - The Providence College women's soccer team fell to Seton Hall 1-0 in its home opener on Thursday, Sept. 26 in South Orange, N.J. The Friars move to 3-4-3 (0-1-0 BIG EAST).

The first 45 minutes of play were scoreless. In the first half, the Friars were out shot by the Pirates, 7-3, but the Friars held the advantage in corners, 2-0. At the half, the game was even at 0-0.

Seton Hall jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 74th minute when Sarah Cortes found the back of the net. The Pirates carried their lead until the end of regulation to notch their first BIG EAST win of the season.

Junior Jessica Goudreault (Sherborn, Mass.) earned her first start of the season. Goudreault tallied all 90 minutes in goal and recorded seven saves.

Providence continues BIG EAST play on Sunday, Sept. 29 when the Friars will host DePaul in its conference home opener. The game is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. and will be played on Glay Field.
