No. 14/14 Women's Soccer Set for Exhibition at Wisconsin

Aug 15, 2013

The No. 14/14 Marquette women's soccer team will put its preseason training to the test on Thursday evening with a trip to in-state foe, Wisconsin.  The Golden Eagles will play an exhibition with the Badgers beginning at 7 p.m. at McClimon Complex.  This will be the first chance for the squad to battle someone else after multiple inter-squad scrimmages.

MU faced the Badgers in the spring season and walked away with a 2-1 victory. Seniors Maegan Kelly and Taylor Madigan each scored in that contest. This is the eighth season that the two teams have played an exhibition against each other to kick off a season.

Marquette was selected as the preseason favorite to win the BIG EAST regular season crown and has won four-consecutive regular season division titles.

The Golden Eagles return six starters from last years' squad that won the 2012 BIG EAST Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16. MU complied an 18-2-3 record overall and a 9-0-1 mark in conference play.

Following the exhibition the Golden Eagles will make their first appearance at Valley Fields on Friday, Aug. 16 for the annual Fan Fest with men's soccer.  The event begins at 4:30 p.m. Admission is free and food will be provided for free by Qdoba. There will be player autographs and interactive soccer stations.
