Georgetown and Notre Dame Claim First BIG EAST Women's Soccer Weekly Awards

Georgetown and Notre Dame have swept the first BIG EAST women's soccer weekly awards winning two honors apiece. Georgetown redshirt junior Ingrid Wells was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, while freshman Alexa St. Martin was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week. Notre Dame junior Jessica Schuveiller was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week and senior teammate Nikki Weiss was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week.
 
Wells earns BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors after totaling six points in Georgetown's only game last week. The junior had two goals and two assists in a 9-0 victory over American on Aug. 21. She played just 62 minutes in the contest and ranks fifth in school history with 56 points.
 
St. Martin earns BIG EAST Rookie of the Week honors after scoring two goals in a 9-0 win over American on Aug. 21. The freshman played just 22 minutes in her collegiate debut and scored on each of her two shots on goal.
 
Schuveiller earns BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors after she anchored the Notre Dame defense in a pair of shutouts and a 2-0-0 week. The junior played all 180 minutes in a 1-0 win over Minnesota on Aug. 20 and a 3-0 win over Milwaukee on Aug. 22. Schuveiller was especially sharp against Milwaukee stifling three 1-v-1 attempts and helping hold the Panthers to just one second-half shot-on-goal (none in the final 41 minutes).
 
Weiss earns BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week honors following a pair of shutouts for the Irish. The senior also totaled eight saves in the wins. In a 1-0 season-opening victory against Minnesota on Aug. 20, Weiss had three saves. In a 3-0 win over Milwaukee on Aug. 22, she had five saves, including four in the first half.
