The Seton Hall women’s soccer team gets its 2013 season underway tonight when they host visiting Stony Brook at Owen T. Carroll Field.

In the first year of a reconstituted BIG EAST Conference, the Pirates will be led by a group of eight players entering their fourth year on the field for The Hall. SHU returns 20 players overall from a team that went 7-12-0 in 2012 and also welcomes eight newcomers into the fold.

Seton Hall and Stony Brook have only met once in the 18-year history of Pirates’ women’s soccer, and it was the Seawolves that handed SHU its first-ever loss as a varsity program in 1994.

Following tonight’s match, the squad will have two days to prepare for the next contest on the schedule, a road tilt against reigning Northeast Conference champions LIU-Brooklyn. Seton Hall has claimed victories in both meetings in the series between the schools, including a 2-0 win in the 2012 season opener.

Tonight’s match is set for a 7:00 p.m. kick-off. If you can’t make it out to Owen T. Carroll Field, log on to www.PirateSportsNet.tv to view a live web stream or tune in to WSOU 89.5 FM as Seton Hall’s radio station will be on hand to bring you all the play-by-play action.
