The University of Louisville women's soccer team will travel to the Wake Forest Invitational this weekend in Winston Salem, N.C. The Cardinals will face ACC foes Virginia Tech on Friday, Aug. 30 at 4:00 p.m. and No. 10 Wake Forest on Sunday, Sept. 1 at 2:00 p.m.
Louisville enters the weekend with an overall record of 1-1-0. The Cardinals defeated Butler 2-0 last Friday and lost a heartbreaker to No. 17 Illinois 5-4 in overtime on Sunday. The Cardinals are led by senior midfielder Charlyn Corral with three goals and one assist for seven points. Corral was named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Senior Christine Exeter ranks second on the team with two goals for four points. Freshman keeper Paige Brown has eight saves and a 2.45 goals against average with one shutout.
Virginia Tech enters the weekend with an overall record of 2-0-0. The Hokies finished last weekend with wins against High Point (7-1) and ETSU (2-0). Freshman Murielle Tiernan leads the Hokies with two goals and one assist for six points. Senior Ashley Manning is second on the team with two goals for four points. Senior Dayle Colpitts leads Virginia Tech in goal with one shutout and a 0.00 goals against average in 152 minutes played.
No. 10 Wake Forest enters the weekend with an overall record of 2-0-0. The Demon Deacons finished last weekend with wins over SEC teams Kentucky (3-1) and Alabama (3-0). Wake Forest is led by senior Katie Stengel with two goals and three assists for seven points. The Demon Deacons have three players tied for second with one goal and one assist for three points. Senior Aubrey Bledsoe leads the team in goal with a 0.50 goals against average with one save and one shutout.
