PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Four different schools have been represented on the second BIG EAST women's soccer weekly awards. Georgetown junior midfielder Kelly D'Ambrisi earned BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Cincinnati junior Kelli Pawelko was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week. Louisville sophomore Taylor Vancil was tabbed BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week and Marquette freshman Maegan Kelly was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week.
D'Ambrisi earns BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors after totaling eight points in two games last week. She factored in five of the team's eight goals to help lead Georgetown in a 2-0-0 week. The junior scored two goals and registered an assist in a 3-0 win over George Washington on Aug. 27. In a 5-0 win against St. Francis (Pa.), D'Ambrisi had a goal and an assist.
Pawelko earns BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors after helping Cincinnati post a pair of shutouts, including a 1-0 win at then-No. 20/16 Wisconsin on Aug. 29. Pawelko also scored the game-winner against the Badgers on a direct kick to notch her first career goal. Earlier in the week, the junior helped the Bearcats shut out Northwestern 0-0 double overtime on Aug. 27.
Vancil earns her first BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week honor following a pair of shutouts in a 2-0-0 week. The sophomore totaled eight saves over 180 minutes. Vancil had four saves in a 1-0 win at then-No. 13/21 South Carolina on Aug. 27. She also had four saves in a 2-0 win over Bucknell and was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the Gamecock Courtyard Cup. A native of South Elgin, Ill., Vancil has allowed just one goal in three games this year.
Kelly earns BIG EAST Rookie of the Week honors following a 1-1-0 week for the Golden Eagles. She totaled three shots, two of which were on goal. In a 3-0 win against Auburn on Aug. 27, Kelly scored a goal playing just 17 minutes off the bench. The freshman saw more time in a 1-0 overtime loss to New Mexico on Aug. 29 as she played 61 minutes.
BIG EAST WEEKLY HONOR ROLL Rachel Barnette, Cincinnati, Jr., GK Posted two shutouts in a 1-0-1 week; had three saves in a 1-0 shutout at then-No. 20/16 Wisconsin on Aug. 29. Jill Camburn, Providence, Gr., F Totaled six points, including two goals, in a 2-0-0 week. Courtney Holtz, Louisville, So., M Helped the Cardinals post two shutouts last week, including a 1-0 win at then-No. 13/21 South Carolina on Aug. 27. Chelsea Klotz, USF, Jr., F Totaled eight points, including four goals in a 2-0-0 week; named MVP of the Racer Classic. Kristin Russell, St. John's Jr., GK Totaled eight saves in 200 minutes to post a pair of shutouts; helped lead the Red Storm in a 1-0-1 week.
