PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Four different teams were represented in the third week of the BIG EAST women's soccer weekly awards. Louisville sophomore Erin Yenney earned BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors, while senior Ally Miller was tabbed BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week. DePaul sophomore Megan Pyrz earned BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week honors, while Providence freshman Catherine Zimmerman was tabbed BIG EAST Rookie of the Week.

 

Yenney earned BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors after totaling five points, including two game-winning goals in a 2-0-0 week for the Cardinals. The sophomore scored the first goal in a 4-0 victory over Southeast Missouri State on last Friday. In a 3-0 win over UNC-Greensboro last Sunday, she had a goal and an assist. Yenney also was named to the UK Tropical Smoothie Invitational All-Tournament team.

 

Miller was tabbed BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week following a shutout win at Northwestern last Friday. She helped anchor a defense that allowed just three shots on goal. The senior also scored a goal in the 28th minute which proved to be the gamewinner. Miller was the BIG EAST Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

 

Pyrz earned BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week honors after totaling 16 saves in a 1-0-1 week. The sophomore had four saves and did not allow a goal in a 0-0 draw at Wright State on Friday. Pyrz also made a career-high 12 saves in a 2-1 overtime victory at Dayton on Sunday.

 

Zimmerman was cited as the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week after scoring three goals to total six points in a 2-0-0 week. The freshman had two goals in a 4-0 victory over Lehigh and one goal in a 2-1 win over Central Connecticut.

Totaled four points, one goal and one assist in a 2-0-0 week.

Daphne Corboz, Georgetown, Jr., F

Had four points, two goals, in a 6-1 victory over Cornell last Saturday.

Caitlin Forte, Villanova, So., M

Had four points, two goals, in two games last week; the first goals of her career.

Chloe Keifer, Louisville, Sr., GK

Had two shutouts in a 2-0-0 week for the Cardinals.

Taylor Mims, Seton Hall, Sr., D

Helped the Pirates go 2-0-0 last week, including a 3-0 shutout victory over Monmouth last Tuesday.
