Women's Soccer Travels to Kentucky and Miami (OH) This Weekend

LOUISVILLE, KY. The University of Louisville women's soccer team will travel to Kentucky and Miami (OH) this weekend for two matches. The Cardinals will face in state rival Kentucky on Friday night in Lexington at 7:30 p.m. and will travel to Miami (OH) on Sunday for a 1:00 p.m. match.

Louisville enters the weekend with an overall record of 1-1-1. Last weekend the Cardinals tied Virginia Tech 1-1. The Cardinals are led by senior midfielder Charlyn Corral with three goals and one assist for seven points. Senior Christine Exeter ranks second on the team with two goals for four points. Freshman keeper Paige Brown has 11 saves and a 1.84 goals against average with one shutout.

Kentucky enters the game with an overall record of 2-1-1. The Wildcats finished last weekend at home with two wins, a 7-0 victory over EKU and a 2-1 win over Toledo. Freshman Zoe Swift leads the Wildcats in scoring with four goals and two assists for 10 points. Junior Arin Gilliland is second on the team in scoring with four assists. Senior Kayla King leads the team in goal with a 1.02 goals against average.

Kentucky leads the series 10-5-1 against the Cardinals. Last year the Wildcats defeated the Cardinals 2-0 in Cardinal Park. Louisville is 2-6 against the Wildcats in Lexington.

Miami (OH) enters the game with an overall record of 2-1-0 this weekend. Last weekend the Redhawks defeated Valparaiso 1-0 and Belmont 5-0. The only loss came at the hands of Illinois State (3-2) in the season opener. Senior Kayla Zakrzewski leads the team in scoring with three goals and one assist for seven pints. Junior Kelsey Dingers ranks second on the team in scoring with two goals and one assist for five points. Senior Allison Norenberg leads the team in goal with a 1.00 goals against average and two shutouts.

The series is tied at 4-4-0 between Louisville and Miami (OH). The Cardinals dropped the first four meetings in the series against the Redhawks before winning four consecutive matches. In the last meeting, Louisville defeated Miami (OH) 1-0 on Aug. 21, 2009 in Cardinal Park.
