Women's Soccer Minute - UConn Tops Marist 3-1

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - UConn was the lone women's soccer team in action on Wednesday night and earned a 3-1 win over Marist at home. The Huskies (3-2-1) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 25 minutes of the contest and notched their third win of the year.


Senior Danielle Schulmann led the squad as she registered her fourth goal and fourth and fifth assists of the season. The forward leads the BIG EAST with 13 points and ranks second with five assists. A complete recap can be found here.


There is one BIG EAST team in action on Thursday as Providence (3-2-1) hosts crosstown rival Brown at 4 p.m. ET. The Friars Current BIG EAST Freshman of the Week Catherine Zimmerman is among the team scoring leaders with three goals this year.


This weekend, there are nine games involving ranked teams, including five top-25 matchups.  No. 12/8 Marquette (3-0-1) takes on No. 18/14 North Carolina on Sept. 7 at 5 p.m. ET, while No. 23/19 Georgetown (6-0-0) squares off against No. rv/- Santa Clara at 7 p.m. ET.


On Sunday, Sept. 9, Marquette is at No. 4/4 Duke, while Georgetown looks to cut down No. 5/5 Stanford. The Hoyas-Cardinal matchup will be broadcast live on the Pac-12 television network.
