QUEENS, N.Y. -
Recently named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, Rachel Daly earned her second accolade of the week as she was tabbed to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week on Tuesday.
The last time St. John's had a player on the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week was Nicole Doran on Sept. 14, 2009.
Daly, a Harrogate, England, native, scored five goals for the Red Storm in a 2-0 weekend. She scored twice in a 4-0 win against Central Connecticut (Sept. 6) and followed that with a three-goal effort in a 4-0 win at Brown (Sept. 8). The hat trick on Sunday was her second this season.
With a league-leading 11 goals in six games, the sophomore is already tied for fourth on St. John's single-season goals list. She is also No. 5 in St. John's single-season records for points with 24. Daly's 24 points lead the NCAA's national statistical rankings. She also leads the NCAA in total goals. Her 4.0 points per game and 1.833 goals per game ranks second among all Division I women's soccer players and No. 1 in the BIG EAST conference.
So far this season, Daly has been named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week twice (Aug. 26, Sept. 9), BigAppleSoccer.com's Player of the Week on Aug. 27 and to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Sept. 2.
