LOUISVILLE, KY.-- The University of Louisville women's soccer team will host Morehead State and UTSA this weekend in Cardinal Park. The Cardinals will face Morehead State at 5:00 p.m. on Friday as part of the double header with the men's team. The game will air live on WHAS (Channels 11.2, Time Warner 432, Comcast 207). Louisville will then host UTSA on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
Louisville enters the weekend with an overall record of 2-2-1. Last weekend the Cardinals went 1-1, falling to Kentucky 2-0 on Friday and defeating Miami (OH) 3-2 in overtime on Sunday. Senior Charlyn Corral leads the team with five goals and two assists for 12 points. Senior Christine Exeter ranks second on the team with two goals and two assists for six points. Freshman keeper Paige Brown has started all five games for the Cardinals, earning a 1.88 goals against average. Brown also has one shutout and 19 saves on the year.
Morehead State enters the game with an overall record of 0-5-1. Last weekend the Eagles fell to Northern Kentucky 2-1 in overtime on Friday and fell to Ohio 3-1 on Sunday. Junior Jade Flory leads the Eagles in scoring with two goals and two assists for six points. Junior Macy Cobb ranks second on the team with two goals. The Eagles have seen three players in goal this season. Sophomore Kaitlynn Murphy has logged the most minutes and leads Morehead State with a 1.17 goals against average along with 13 saves.
Louisville leads the series 10-0 against Morehead State. In the last meeting on Oct. 15, 2004, the Cardinals defeated the Eagles 2-0.
UTSA enters the weekend with an overall record of 1-5-0. Last weekend the Roadrunners fell to A&M- Corpus Christi 2-1 on Friday and then fell to Samford 2-0 on Sunday. Taylor Wingerden, Brianna Livecchi and Anissa Munson lead the team with one goal for two points. Bubba Makela has started in goal five games this season, 1.45 goals against average. Makela also has one shutout and 23 saves on the year.
Sunday's match will be the first meeting between the two teams.
Friday's game against Morehead State is International Night, free t-shirts will be given out to the first 150 people in attendance. It is also YMCA night and all kids wearing a YMCA soccer jersey will get in free.
Sunday's game against UTSA is Cardinal Kids Club Day and all kids will receive free admission with the purchase of an adult ticket. Those interested in joining the Cardinal Kids Club can register at the game.
