LOUISVILLE, KY. -- The University of Louisville women's soccer team will travel to Marquette this weekend for a 7:00 p.m. match on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Valley Fields. This is the lone match for the Cardinals this week before the start of conference play next weekend.
Louisville enters the weekend with an overall record of 4-2-1. Last weekend the Cardinals went 2-0, defeating Morehead State 7-2 on Friday and UTSA 1-0 on Sunday. Senior Charlyn Corral leads the team with six goals and four assists for 16 points. Senior Christine Exeter ranks second on the team with five goals and two assists for 12 points. Freshman keeper Paige Brown has started all seven games for the Cardinals, earning a 1.69 goals against average. Brown also has two shutouts and 24 saves on the year.
MU is coming off of a 3-2 loss at Illinois State last Sunday. The Golden Eagles mounted a furious comeback that fell just short, after trailing 3-0 early in the contest. Taylor Madigan leads the Golden Eagles in scoring with four goals and one assist for nine points. Mady Vicker ranks second on the team with three goals and one assist for seven points. Amanda Engel has started eight games in goal for Marquette. She owns a 1.39 goals against average along with 19 saves and 20 shutouts.
Saturday will be the 23rd meeting between the programs. Marquette owns a 15-6-1 advantage in the series over the Cardinals. Last season the Cardinals fell 2-0 to Marquette at Valley Fields.
