Paige Brown Named American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week

LOUISVILLE, KY. -- Louisville freshman goalkeeper Paige Brown was named American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week after helping the Cardinals to a 2-0 record this weekend. Teammate Charlyn Corral was named to the weekly honor roll after leading the Cardinals in scoring this weekend.

Brown finished with four saves in the Cardinals' win against Memphis on Friday night. She also finished with four saves against Rutgers on Sunday. Brown finished the week with a 1.49 goals against average and a .727 save percentage. In her rookie season she has a 6-3-1 record and two shutouts.

Corral led the Cardinals with two goals and one assist for five points this weekend. The senior midfielder did all her scoring in the Cards' 4-1 win over Rutgers on Sunday. In the eighth minute of play, Corral blasted a shot from 25 yards out over the keeper's head for the first goal of the match. She also assisted on Shannon Dennehey's goal in the 27th minute. And just 50 seconds into the second half Corral scored again, giving Louisville a 4-1 lead and securing the victory.

Louisville also moved up the rankings this week after defeating Memphis 3-2 in overtime on Friday and with the 4-1 win over Rutgers on Sunday. The Cardinals are currently ranked No. 26 in the Top Drawer Soccer poll this week.
