Women's Soccer Travels to SMU and Houston This Weekend

LOUISVILLE, KY. -- The University of Louisville women's soccer team will travel to SMU on Thursday and Houston on Sunday for a pair of American Athletic Conference matches. The Cardinals will face the SMU Mustangs on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. Louisville will then travel to Houston for a 1:00 p.m. match on Sunday.

Louisville enters the weekend with an overall record of 6-3-1 and a league record of 2-0-0. Last weekend the Cards defeated Memphis 3-2 in overtime on Friday then defeated Rutgers 4-1 on Sunday. Senior Charlyn Corral leads the team with nine goals and five assists for 23 points. Corral's goal total is tied for first in the conference, while her 23 points are the top of the league. Senior Christine Exeter ranks second on the team with six goals and five assists for 17 points. Freshman keeper Paige Brown has started all 10 games for the Cardinals, earning a 1.75 goals against average. Brown also has two shutouts and 34 saves on the year.

SMU enters this weekend with a 6-4-0 overall record and a 1-1-0 league record. The Mustangs beat Temple 1-0 on Sunday after falling to UConn 2-1 on Thursday. SMU is led in scoring by Shelby Redman with seven goals and two assists for 16 points. Three other players each have seven points for the Mustangs. Courtney Smith leads the team in assists with seven on the year. Shannon Moroney leads the team in goal with a 1.38 goals against average. Moroney has one shutout and 22 saves this season. Thursday's match marks the first meeting between the two programs.

Houston enters the weekend with an overall record of 1-4-3 and a league record of 0-2-0. The Cougars are led by junior Kayla Walker with two goals for four points. Three players each have two points, including Kelsey Zamora and senior Kylie Cook with one goal apiece. Cami Koski leads the team in goal with a 1.30 goals against average. Koski has 55 saves and two shutouts this season.

Houston leads the series with the Cardinals 3-0-1. The last time the two teams met was during the 2002 season, the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
