Oct. 4 BIG EAST Women's Soccer Weekly Release

PROVIDENCE
, R.I. - Notre Dame grabbed a pair of BIG EAST women's soccer weekly awards as junior Melissa Henderson earned BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors and freshman Elizabeth Tucker earned BIG EAST Rookie of the Week honors. Marquette sophomore Ally Miller earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week accolades and West Virginia senior Kerri Butler was tabbed BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week.
 
For the second consecutive week, Henderson earns BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors. The junior totaled nine points, including four goals, in a 2-0-0 week. Henderson had two goals in a 3-0 win against Syracuse on Oct. 1 and two goals and an assist in a 4-1 win over St. John's on Oct. 3.
 
Miller earns BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors following a pair of wins, including a shutout, last week. The sophomore played a key role in allowing just one goal over two games. Miller helped Marquette to a shutout at Villanova 3-0 on Oct. 1. She also aided the team in a 2-1 win at Georgetown on Oct. 3. Miller marked two of the league's top players Katie Ryan (VU) and Ingrid Wells (GU) limiting them to a combined one shot in the games.
 
Butler is tabbed BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week following a 3-0-0 week that included two shutouts. In a 3-0 win over Pitt on Sept. 28, she made six saves. In a 4-0 victory at Cincinnati on Oct. 1, the senior had four stops. Butler added two saves in a 2-1 win at Louisville on Oct. 3.
 
Tucker totaled five points in a 2-0-0 week for the Irish, including two game-winning goals. In a 3-0 win against Syracuse on Oct. 1, the freshman scored in the 27th minute. In a 4-1 win over St. John's on Oct. 3, Tucker recorded a goal and an assist.

QUICK KICKS
TV GAMES - There are two BIG EAST women's soccer games on television this weekend, including a nationally televised contest on ESPNU. On Oct. 10, Rutgers travels to No. 5/7 Notre Dame in a 1 p.m. ET contest. The Irish are 17-1-2 all-time against the Scarlet Knights, with the lone loss coming in 2001.
 
The other game on local television pits Louisville against Georgetown on Oct. 3 in Louisville, Ky. The National Division rivals meet up in a key battle for position in the standings. The teams are separated by just three points.
